Ski patrollers use harnesses, rope, carabiners and other hardware to perform a ski lift or gondola evacuation in case of a mechanical failure. For some evacuations a rescuer must climb a lift tower, rope in to a belay team, attach a Rollcab roller wheel to the lift cable, then move down the cable to the nearest gondola car where they can assist passengers evacuate to the ground.
The maintenance teams at ski resorts also use fall protection safety gear when working at heights and inspecting or servicing chairlift, gondola, and tram equipment and towers.
